Background

The Devonian Marcellus Shale may hold significant untapped reserves of natural gas in New York State. The project will help determine optimal locations for natural gas extraction.

Project Description

The goal of this project shall be to assess the gas potential of the Marcellus through an integrated statewide stratigraphic and geochemical study. A series of maps and cross sections will be produced to identify the fairways of greater potential.

The project will help determine the optimal locations for natural gas extraction in New York State.
