Project Description

The next step for Orthogonal Inc. is to develop a marketing analysis and a go-to-market strategy and expand their intellectual property (IP) protection. The market analysis will determine which markets and opportunities to prioritize since the photoresist technology can be useful across many industries. Once this occurs, the company will develop a go-to-market strategy. Concurrently, Orthogonal will apply for patents and protection of their growing lP.

Benefits

Benefits include increased job opportunities in New York. Four new employees are targeted in the first year, growing to 25 by the end of the fourth year. The technology will also enable energy harvesting technologies, reduced energy consumption and reduced electronic waste.

Project Results

The project achieved two main goals: 1) developed a marketing plan to prioritize opportunities and devise a go-to-market strategy; and 2) more fully developed the company’s IP portfolio to ensure proper protection of the technology. In addition, they produced a sound business plan that enabled the company to secure commitments of funding and sign a three-year, $3 million joint development agreement with the largest photoresist supplier in the world. This has strengthened the company’s future while dramatically reducing the risks associated with technology commercialization.
