High Efficiency Lighting Products:Atrium Fixture(ST6587-1)

Edison Price Lighting, Inc.

Background

Edison Price Lighting, Inc. has developed three families of fixtures designed specifically for the metal halide lamp, including a down light, PAR 30 track light, and wallwash fixture. These fixtures use lamps with wattages ranging from 39 watts to 150 watts. While the use of metal halide lamps has been widely accepted for the illumination of commercial spaces, there are certain applications for which no suitable fixtures exist. The development of a high wattage Atrium Fixture will give lighting professions the possibility of using one highly efficient lamp type for an entire project, thereby reducing the complexity and cost of lighting maintenance, as well as maintaining the illumination color throughout a project.

Project Description

The project was designed to include design and prototype development, prototype testing, production planning and preparation, a pilot run, and marketing activities.

Benefits

The project will provide customers with a high wattage metal halide fixture that produces one-third more lumens than its incandescent counterpart, while consuming two-thirds less energy and providing five times the lamp life.

Project Results

The project designed and developed prototypes, completed production planning and preparation activities, a pilot run, and marketing activities for a recessed metal halide accent light, which Edison Price calls the Arclite/T6/6AA. The fixture uses a T6/6AA metal halide lamp with an adjustable flood beam spread. The project will provide customers with a high wattage metal halide fixture that produces one-third more lumens than its incandescent counterpart, while consuming two-thirds less energy and providing five times the lamp life.
