Design & Implementation Maintenance Enhancements for the Existing School Power Naturally Schools (ST10983-1)

NorthEast Biogas, LLC

School Power...Naturally has supported fifty existing PV systems at host schools across New York. Maintaining the systems so they record data accurately, and also upload it to the Web consistently, is essential to the continuing success of the program. If the current systems do not function well, it will not be possible for teachers to use the data in the classroom.

Project Description

Specific objectives include: 1) perform existing hardware maintenance; 2) install new 7-Watt microserver computers and uninterruptable power supplies at each school; 3) upgrade the software at each school; 4) perform data collection and monitoring; 5) update the trouble-shooting guide to include the new components; 6) provide ongoing monitoring and maintenance to service schools whose systems are not functioning properly; 7) install an automated warning system at each school to detect malfunctions; and, 8) train two installers to work on-site at schools across the New York State.

This project will expand and enhance the capabilities of current School Power...Naturally systems. The data will become more reliable, thereby enabling teachers to incorporate it into lessons more easily.
