NESCAUM Evaluation of European Woodstove Testing(ST10925-1)



State-of-the-art, European-style, staged-combustion woodstoves can achieve highly efficient use of fuel while producing much lower levels of emissions than conventional-type woodstoves that are currently used in the United States.

Project Description

The project will include independent laboratory emissions testing of two sample staged-combustion woodstoves manufactured by the RIKA Company in Austria and the Specht Company in Germany. The Contractor will arrange for shipping of the woodstoves to OMNI Test Laboratories and testing in accordance with USEPA Methods 5G and 28 as well as European standard EN 13240. The Contractor will, in cooperation with USEPA, provide technical interpretation of USEPA test standards to the test laboratory in regard to testing of woodstoves that incorporate staged-combustion and electronic control of primary and secondary combustion air flow. The contractor will provide independent evaluation of emissions test results to NYSERDA.
