A prospective Home Energy Rater must complete a multi-step process to become a NYSERDA partner, eligible to serve builders of New York ENERGY STAR Certified Homes. The process begins by obtaining specific certifications through a RESNET-accredited Home Energy Training Provider.
Additional energy efficiency and building science training may also be available through local community colleges, weatherization agencies, or private organizations. NYSERDA’s website posts a list of some of the available trainings at: nyserda.ny.gov/Contractors/Find-a-Contractor/Training-Partners.aspx.
Once you have successfully completed this initial training, you will need to attend training and complete written and field exams to become a Building Performance Institute (BPI) certified Building Analyst Professional.
