How the Certification Process Works
All Home Energy Raters intending to serve the New York ENERGY STAR® Certified Homes Program must obtain certification. Refer to the steps below for a full list of tasks required to complete your certification requirements and become a program participant.
Step 1: Select and sign up with a RESNET-Accredited Home Energy Rating Provider also serving as a partner to NYSERDA.
Step 2: Read, review and understand the requirements outlined in PON 2309, including the Partnership Agreement [PDF], which details the terms of participation, and the Home Energy Rater Requirements detailed in Attachment F of PON 2309.
Step 3: Successfully complete training to fulfill RESNET’s Home Energy Rater certification requirements.
Step 4: Successfully complete training as necessary to fulfill NYSERDA’s Home Energy Rater requirements as detailed in PON 2309, including attendance at Building Analyst training, if appropriate. Find Upcoming BA Training.
Step 5: Successfully complete the Building Analyst Professional written and field exams with a score of 80% or better.
Step 6: Fulfill all other Building Analyst Professional certification requirements.
Step 7: Download, sign and mail in the Signature Form [PDF].
