New York State is committed to ensuring that at least 90% of residential and commercial permitted construction complies with the Energy Conservation Code of New York State (ECCCNYS-2010) by 2017 and, through improved construction practices, increase energy savings and reduce carbon emissions. NYSERDA’s Energy Code Training and Support Initiative is developing new opportunities for the State's enforcement, design, and construction communities to improve enforcement of and compliance with the ECCCNYS.
Beginning in late fall 2014/early 2015, NYSERDA and partners will offer the following resources to meet its ambitious goals:
- Classroom training on the ECCCNYS as amended ( based on forthcoming New York State updates to the International Energy Conservation Code). Classroom training will be offered at locations statewide and developed for the specific needs of code enforcement officials, design professionals, energy professionals and the construction market.
- New online training on the ECCCNYS as amended (based on forthcoming New York State updates to the International Energy Conservation Code).
- In-office and remote Energy Code Support to municipalities and other stakeholders including, but not limited to, plan review and on-site inspection assistance, educational opportunities and Q&A resources specific to the ECCCNYS.
- Publications to assist those who use and enforce the ECCCNYS.
