10 contractors recognized for their commitment to providing low-income homeowners with no-cost energy efficiency solutions

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has recognized 10 exceptional contractors across the state whose efforts have helped low-income New Yorkers to reduce their energy bills and improve the energy efficiency of their homes. The contractors, all participants in the EmPower New York program, were recently acknowledged at regional contractor meetings.
Top billing went to NYS Energy Audits of Brooklyn -- named Contractor of the Year for its ability to reach untapped demographics, commitment to excellence, consummate professionalism and dedication to providing quality service.
Other contractors that received Outstanding Contractor awards are:

- DA Goudreau, Mannsville
- Energy Management Technical Services, New Hartford
- Energy Savings Solutions, Cheektowaga
- Green Home Logic, West Hempstead
- Home Energy Consultants, Pleasant Valley
- Ideal Energy Solutions, East Aurora
- New Buffalo Impact, Tonawanda
- Superior Energy Innovations, Jamestown
- Town Building Systems, Sanborn

With more than 100 contractors participating in the program, EmPower New York staff determines award winners by quality assurance scores, average completion time, work volume and overall commitment to the program.
EmPower New York services are free to income-eligible households and anyone eligible for HEAP (earning 60 percent of the state median household income) is eligible for EmPower. Services include high-efficiency lighting and replacement of inefficient refrigerators and freezers with new ENERGY STAR® qualified models; heating efficiency services, such as insulation and air sealing; and health and safety testing to ensure the home is properly ventilated and combustion gases are not escaping into the living space.
