NYSERDA Recognizes Two New York City Engineering Firms for Excellence in Energy Efficiency in Multifamily Buildings

Awards from NYSERDA’s Multifamily Performance Program Honor Highest Energy Savings Achieved in Existing Buildings and New Construction

November 30, 2012

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) recognized five engineering firms, including New York City-based The Daylight Savings Company and Raman and Oundjian Engineering and Inspection Services P.C., for their energy-saving initiatives through the authority’s Multifamily Performance Program (MPP).

Partners in the program—energy specialists focused on improving multifamily building performance—earned the awards for projects that delivered energy savings that were double or triple the MPP minimum 15 percent savings target. The projects demonstrate efforts to support New York’s electricity and fuel reduction goals.

“Under Governor Cuomo’s leadership, New York State is developing a clean energy economy that encourages energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO, NYSERDA. “NYSERDA’s Multifamily Performance Program is helping New Yorkers make a significant difference in energy consumption,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO, NYSERDA. “These program partners are leading the way in enhancing the value, energy efficiency, and health and comfort of multifamily buildings in New York City.”

The Daylight Savings Company received the On-Target Savings Award for its portfolio of existing building projects, which has the most accurately predicted savings.

Raman and Oundjian Engineering and Inspection Services P.C., received the New Partner Award, which recognizes enthusiastic activity in and promotion of the Multifamily Performance Program.

The objective of each project is to maximize energy efficiency in multifamily buildings to lower energy costs while improving the health and comfort of residents. Through the Multifamily Energy Performance Portfolio, owners, condo/co-op boards and developers have access to technical assistance, funding and low-cost financing from NYSERDA to implement energy-efficiency measures.

Other winning partners include:

  • C.J. Brown Energy P.C., Buffalo
  • Buffalo Energy Inc., Buffalo
  • En-Tech Associates, Syracuse
