NYSERDA Recognizes Syracuse-Based En-Tech Associates for Excellence in Energy Efficiency in Multifamily Buildings

Award from NYSERDA’s Multifamily Performance Program Honors Highest Energy Savings Achieved in a New Construction Project

November 13, 2012

The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) recognized five engineering firms, including Syracuse-based En-Tech Associates Inc., for energy-saving projects through the Authority’s Multifamily Performance Program (MPP).

Partners in the program—energy specialists focused on improving multifamily building performance—earned the awards for projects that delivered energy savings that were double or triple the MPP minimum 15 percent savings target. The projects demonstrate efforts to support New York’s electricity and fuel reduction goals.

“Under Governor Cuomo’s leadership, New York State is developing a clean energy economy that encourages energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO, NYSERDA. “Through NYSERDA’s Multifamily Performance Program, builders can adopt energy efficiency practices even before they break ground on a new site. Syracuse-based En-Tech Associates Inc. has demonstrated how energy saving features can result in better building performance, improved operations and lower energy bills.”

En-Tech Associates Inc. received the Outstanding Savings award for New Construction, which recognizes exceptional energy savings in a single project, for Under the Hill Apartments—a 7-unit building located in Pulaski, N.Y.—that achieved energy savings of 51 percent.

The objective of each MPP project is to maximize energy efficiency in multifamily buildings to lower energy costs while improving the health and comfort of residents. Through the Multifamily Energy Performance Portfolio, owners, condo/co-op boards and developers have access to technical assistance, funding and low-cost financing from NYSERDA to implement energy efficiency measures.

Other winning partners were:

  • C.J. Brown Energy PC, Buffalo
  • Buffalo Energy Inc., Buffalo
  • Raman and Oundjian Engineering and Inspection Services PC, New York City
  • The Daylight Savings Company, New York City
