New York City -- The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has recognized Karla Donnelly of Steven Winter Associates with the award for Outstanding Achievement – Green Residential Building Program Technician” for 2010-2011.

Donnelly is a Home Energy Rater and Green Rater who works with green residential builders in Metro New York to help them construct single-family homes and multi-family buildings that meet stringent standards for green practices and energy efficiency. She evaluates the construction plans and the completed homes through computer-based energy analysis inspection, certification and testing.

Considered a true ambassador for the Green Residential Building Program, Donnelly received the NYSERDA award for her quality work on 45 green homes during 2010 and 2011, the thoroughness of her documentation and her responsiveness. She worked on market-rate and low- to moderate-income residential projects, new construction and renovations, single-family homes and multi-family buildings.

NYSERDA’s Green Residential Building Program provides incentives for construction of green homes, which are designed to reduce the overall impact on human health and the natural environment by efficiently using energy, water and other resources; protecting occupant health; and reducing waste, pollution and environmental degradation.

“Congratulations to Ms. Donnelly for her exceptional work on and commitment to the construction of green residential buildings,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. “Green building practices are excellent ways for New Yorkers to participate in sustainable living and realize positive environmental benefits.”
