Awards Cite Outstanding Achievements
The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) has presented awards to solar installers in Buffalo, Rhinebeck and Malta for outstanding achievements in the Customer-Sited Photovoltaic (PV) and Solar Thermal incentive programs.
NYSERDA’s Customer-Sited Tier PV and Solar Thermal incentive programs help New York State increase the use of renewable energy. The PV program is for systems that produce electricity from solar power, while the Solar Thermal program is for production of hot water from solar energy. Both programs provide incentives for installations at homes, small commercial buildings and not-for-profits.
“Congratulations to these installers for the excellent work they do in NYSERDA’s PV and Solar Thermal programs,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. “New York State is a national leader in the deployment and production of renewable energy, and PV and solar thermal are important clean-energy sources in our diversified mix. Renewable energy work provides good jobs and bolsters the economic development of our communities.”
Statewide PV and Solar Thermal awards were made to the following contractors at the recent Affordable Comfort Inc. (ACI) conference in Saratoga Springs New York:
Solar Liberty Energy Systems located in Buffalo received the “Outstanding Achievement” award in the PV program. This award recognized the company that has completed the most PV installations and installed the most kilowatts (kW) of PV capacity during 2011. Solar Liberty Energy Systems installed a total of 111 systems during 2011 with a total capacity of 1,896 kW.
The “Excellence in Quality” award in the PV program went to Hudson Valley Clean Energy of Rhinebeck for achieving the highest overall Quality Assurance inspection score.
The Radiant Store in Malta received the “Outstanding Achievement” award in NYSERDA’s Solar Thermal Program. This award recognized the company that has completed the most Solar Thermal installations and displaced the largest number of kilowatt hours of electricity for water heating. Since the Solar Thermal Program’s inception in November 2010, The Radiant Store has installed 50 systems, which have displaced 264,001 kWh of electricity.
“Congratulations to these contractors for the excellent work they do to increase New York State’s solar energy generation,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. “PV and solar thermal are important to NYSERDA’s diverse renewable energy strategy, helping us spur market adoption of clean-energy technologies that improve our environment.”
