NYSERDA Saratoga Technology and Energy Park Exceeds 300 Employees
Now in Its 10th Year, STEP® Facility Reaches Milestones
MALTA, NY — The tech park owned by the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) achieved two milestones recently: topping 300 workers among its 12 tenant businesses, and opening a new eatery.
The clean – tech and environmental – based businesses at Saratoga Technology + Energy Park® (STEP®) in Malta are expected to continue to grow. So is STEP itself the park is approved for 1.25 million square feet of business space, a footprint four times its current size.
STEP’s mission is to attract clean–tech businesses, grow jobs in the region and promote a clean –energy economy.
“In the ten years since NYSERDA created STEP, it has become a leader in attracting clean – tech business,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. “NYSERDA is proud of the role it plays in helping to develop a clean – energy economy in New York State.”
In a further sign of STEP’s continued growth, a food kiosk opened at 107 Hermes Rd. last month. It is the first permanent food service available at the site.
The kiosk is open for breakfast and lunch and is operated by PRIME Business Dining, a division of Mazzone Management Group. Mazzone also owns 677 Prime in Albany, the Glen Sanders Mansion in Schenectady, Prime in Saratoga Springs and other local restaurants. The company also operates The Foundry, a dining location exclusively for the construction workers at the GLOBALFOUNDRIES site located next to STEP. GLOBALFOUNDRIES is currently the largest economic –development project in the country.
