NYSERDA Announces New Strategic Alliance Between Ecological LLC and Cushman & Wakefield
Client Company of New York City Accelerator for Clean and Renewable Economy (NYC ACRE)to Help Clients Comply with Green Buildings Laws and Other Sustainability Mandates
Ecological LLC, a client company of the NYSERDA-funded New York City Accelerator for Clean and Renewable Economy (NYC ACRE) at the Polytechnic Institute of New York University (NYU-Poly), today announced the formation of a Strategic Alliance with Cushman & Wakefield (C&W), the world’s largest privately held commercial real estate services firm to provide Comprehensive Sustainability ServicesTM to C&W’s clients.
NYC ACRE was created with the support of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Clean Energy Business Incubator program to help early-stage clean technology and renewable energy companies in New York City grow and advance the city as a role model for a low-carbon future.
Ecological, which came to NYC ACRE last year, will provide building owners and tenants with the opportunity to comply with recently passed sustainability mandates. These mandates include New York City’s recent legislation requiring green building initiatives such as monitoring, benchmarking of energy and water use and energy audits. The Strategic Alliance will initially focus on C&W’s clients in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut, with the capability to execute nationwide.
“The partnership between Ecological and Cushman & Wakefield represents a tremendous opportunity for two New York firms to bring sustainable building practices into the mainstream,” said Francis J. Murray Jr., President and CEO of NYSERDA. “We commend this strategic partnership, its vision and its commitment to improve energy efficiency, reduce environmental emissions and help advance the growth of clean-energy companies in New York City.”
“We want to recognize the importance of NYSERDA’s vision and support in facilitating our ability to enter into this important Strategic Alliance with Cushman and Wakefield,” said Brian King, Ecological’s President and COO. “We look forward to NYSERDA’s continued support and guidance as we deliver Comprehensive Sustainability Services to our clients located in New York.”
Founded in 1917, C&W has 231 offices in 58 countries and more than 15,000 employees. The firm manages over 630 million square feet of commercial real estate globally, including 70 million square feet in Manhattan. C&W’s partnership with clients has resulted in the certification of over 23 million square feet of commercial real estate globally under the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) rating system. C&W is also the first commercial real estate services firm to sign a Memorandum of Understanding with U.S. EPA to enhance the environmental performance of the firm’s own offices and managed properties throughout the United States.
