NYSERDA Honors Longtime Executive Parker D. Mathusa

Albany, April 14, 2009—The board of directors of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority today dedicated its 17 Columbia Circle, Albany headquarters boardroom to longtime executive and board member, the late Parker D. Mathusa of Bethlehem who died in November 2008. Members of the Mathusa family, including his wife Polly and four daughters, NYSERDA Board members, four past presidents, local elected officials, employees and friends watched as Chairman Vincent A. DeIorio unveiled a bronze plaque featuring Mathusa’s image and text commemorating his more than 30 years service to the Authority.
Mathusa served as Director of the NYSERDA Research Program until his retirement in 1998. Thereafter, he was named by the governor to the Research Scientist seat on the NYSERDA board, and served for 10 years on its key Program Planning Committee until his resignation last November.
Ceremony remarks were made by Chairman DeIorio, Mathusa’s daughter, Heather M. Tangora and President and CEO, Francis J. Murray, Jr. Former NYSERDA presidents attending included: F. William Valentino, William M. Flynn, Peter R. Smith and U.S. Representative Paul D. Tonko. Also at the ceremony were Albany County Executive Michael Breslin and Bethlehem Town Supervisor Jack Cunningham.
