Home Energy Professionals Honored for Their Achievements
February 25, 2008
Albany, NY --The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) honored 14 of the state’s leading contracting companies, home energy raters, trade allies and partners on February 6 at the ACI “Solutions for Success” 2008 New York ENERGY STAR for Homes Conference and Awards Banquet. As partners in the State’s Home Performance with ENERGY STAR® and New York ENERGY STAR Labeled Homes programs, the businesses and organizations were awarded for their commitment, professionalism and skill in expanding the field of home performance and residential energy efficiency.
Nearly 150 contractors throughout New York participate in Home Performance with ENERGY STAR and over 500 builders and raters participate in the New York ENERGY STAR Labeled Homes Program, 433 of which attended “Solutions for Success”. Both programs, sponsored by NYSERDA, help New York State residents save money on their energy bills while also reducing the State’s overall energy use and greenhouse gas emissions.
“All of our program partners are creating powerful, positive outcomes in our State, helping to place New York at the forefront of energy solutions,” said Paul D. Tonko, President and CEO of NYSERDA. “They have been a driving force in the State’s energy and environmental savings over the last several years. The importance of their efforts reaches beyond the statistics; these men and women touch lives and help invest in a strong societal commitment to future generations.”
Since 2001, partners in NYSERDA’s residential energy efficiency program have completed approximately 18,000 Home Performance with ENERGY STAR jobs and have built more than 11,000 New York ENERGY STAR Labeled Homes. Collectively, this work has saved New Yorkers more than 29 million kilowatt hours of electricity and 1.2 trillion BTUs of gas and oil.
“That’s enough saved energy to power 4,900 households for a year,” Tonko said. “Thanks to our partners, New Yorkers have access to programs that not only help lower energy bills, make homes safer, and create healthier living environments, but also reduce greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.”
The following contractors, community-based organizations and trade ally organizations won awards:
- Advanced Energy Conservation, North Syracuse – Outstanding Achievement through Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR
- Advanced Energy Systems of New York, Utica – Excellence in Energy Savings
- Aeon Heating and Air Conditioning, Potsdam – Outstanding Achievement through Assisted Home Performance with ENERGY STAR
- Building Performance Contractors Association of New York State, Albany – Outstanding Partnership
- Building Performance Institute, Malta – Outstanding Program Ally
- GreenHomes America by EnTherm, Syracuse – Outstanding Achievement through Home Performance with ENERGY STAR
NYSERDA also recognized participating contractors and home energy raters; 81 partners in total, who have been in either the Home Performance with ENERGY STAR or New York ENERGY STAR Labeled Homes programs for five years or more.
