The New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) seeks an experienced, team-oriented technical staff manager to join our team at the Western New York Nuclear Service Center to help oversee a federal-state radioactive decommissioning project at the West Valley nuclear facility in northern Cattaraugus County, New York.
The successful candidate will manage a small team of technical experts to represent NYSERDA in the performance of the West Valley Demonstration Project. Responsibilities will include: identifying and applying the assets needed to monitor and evaluate site decommissioning activities; strategic planning; staff management; in-depth reviews of technical documents; coordinating and editing position papers and technical comment packages; and building and maintaining relationships with federal and State agency representatives, members of the public, regulators, elected officials, and other stakeholders.
Minimum educational requirements and experience include:
The position requires an advanced degree in natural sciences, physical sciences, engineering, or a related technical discipline with a minimum of three years experience leading technical staff to achieve program objectives. Individuals with a bachelor’s degree in the same technical disciplines and five years of staff management and program leadership will also be considered.
Project and contract management experience on large federal government projects is highly desirable, as is environmental or engineering experience as applied to nuclear facility decommissioning and radioactive waste management.
